After the race we started back to the hotel room to feed Wayne a celebratory meal and tuck him in for a celebratory nap. It was a long way back from the staging are to the Monorail, and we passed many many people who didn't manage the marathon anywhere near as gracefully as Wayne. Made me thankful for all the hard training he did, and careful thought he put into his training so that he wasn't one of those limping painfully or curled up on the ground under borrowed mylar blankets.
One of the best things about the marathon weekend was the great spirit that was all around - at the parks, restaurants on the monorails...everyone was happy (if exhausted) and friendly and whenever two people with medals passed each other they gave each other a knowing look and a wave. We met so many nice people and everyone seemed so much more interested in both sharing stories AND listening to stories...since most people run a marathon for a "reason" you just felt an instant connection because for everyone you met that day was an Important Day, a Milestone, an Achievement, a Life Changer. It is hard to be around that and not feel like the world is a pretty amazing place full of pretty amazing people! And my husband is one of those amazing people! Of course, I knew that...but now he has a medal to prove it!

This was a great re-cap of the day Lori! I'm sure that it was an extremely emotional day for all of you. Loved the pictures- especially the one of Peter making the face in line for the monorail (so cute!), and the one of Tim and Wayne after the marathon too. I always look forward to your posts! :)
Crud puppies, you made me cry again (see part 2). I'm never going to be able to come out of my office now!
