Winter...finally

Well, it is finally Winter. We've had a full week of seasonal weather (following on the footsteps of an 70 degree weekend!) and the weatherman predicts snow this afternoon. Wayne has built a fire in the family room, which at one point heated that room to a balmy 84 degrees ;) I've got food out for the birds, and brought food in for the family. The definition of heroism has to include going to the grocery store in the South before a snow.

The odd weather seems to have hit Abby pretty hard. I'm not sure I've seen a clean nose from her since before Christmas. Peter seems to have dodged most of the season's germs so far (knock on wood). Peter had his 6 year appointment last week and passed with flying colors. He continues to be at the 10th percentile on weight and 50th on height and now refers to himself as a 'talk drink of water'.

11:45 No snowflakes yet.
12:10 Flurries off the starboard bow!
3:00 Scraped the car to get to a play date
7:15 3 inches at Dulles, 2 inches at Point Pleasant.

Big question for tomorrow - will school be open, closed or delay?

The winner is: Delay. Officially don't like delays.

Our "freeze" didn't appear...no water to freeze things with. I had 4 phone calls that morning to see if we had school (even though our official guidelines are to check with the newscasts and DON'T CALL THE SCHOOL!!!) and actually had two excuse notes saying that the students were kept home because of weather!?!?!? Southerners are just plain weird!

We are having the same today. We had a 2 hour delay this morning for the freezing rain that didn't happen. Poor superintendent got slammed last time because he only did a 2-hour delay and someone fell and broke their arm. This time he calls the delay and there is no weather to speak of. Really got to feel for the guy...I'm glad it isn't my decision!
