Easter at the National Aquarium

On Easter morning we woke up early, had a wonderful breakfast overlooking the Harbor, and went to the Aquarium. The Aquarium is wonderfully set up so that you enter at the bottom and circle up the building (and simultaneously down in depth in the exhibits) until you get to a rooftop aviary/tropical garden. All the way up you can look down at a giant sting ray pool. Then, on the way down from the aviary you wind your way through a multi-story tank showing the layers of sea life all living together. A final descent takes you through a shark exhibit and back to a window looking into the bottom of the sting ray tank. It was, as always, a wonderful and amazing place.

We finished the exhibits in time for the dolphin show and for the first time ever (although I'm afraid not the last) Peter asked to sit in the splash zone. We did, and we were...but not so much that we were uncomfortably wet. Both kids were thrilled and later in the week created a play-doh version of the show, complete with 'water' to drench the audience.

Sadly our camera battery ran out during the show so we don't have any photos of the rest of Easter, but it was understandably low key given all the excitement of the weekend. A little bit of candy for everyone and an Egg hunt, but then we all collapsed in a happy Haney heap.
