So, Wayne had a rough day after Thanksgiving. Earlier in the week he was tempted by an after Thanksgiving sale item. He hemmed and hawed over whether it was worth it for a couple of days but then, further wooed by the artful ads and clever commercials he decided that he would go out on Black Friday AND that he would try to hit multiple stores. He went to sleep Thursday night, alarm set with visions of deals dancing in his head. He got up a little later than he wanted and headed out....only to come face to face with the BLACK of Black Friday. The line at the first store on his list stretched across the building, across the parking lot and across the front of a nearby restaurant. At the front of the line were tents...near the middle, police officers managing the crowd! Wayne decided not to try that store and headed over to the toy store where there was surprisingly no line. He walked in and headed to the Transformer's section to pick up the boy's toy of the season only to find that in the less then ten minutes the store had been open, that toy had been sold out. He turned to look at the checkout line and decided that since it was empty he'd at least pick up something - he swears he turned his back for a second to pick out a toy and when he turned back around....the line was to the back of the store! Dejected he put back the toy and walked out empty handed. Then he did what any sane person in his position would do...he went to the donut shop.
He came back home completely disgruntled. In addition to what is here he told stories of serious bad behavior by shoppers and swears he will never do that again. But, there is a happy ending, Wayne decided to put up the Christmas lights that day, and somewhere between the adrenaline rush of dangling off the roof and the pride of a job well done, he got his Christmas spirit back!
